Hot topics to tackle

The transformative nature of technology has been a significant topic making waves throughout the pharmacy profession . We’ve seen the impact digitisation has had throughout Covid-19, when it became a core part of company strategy for many. More recently, a report on the government’s pharmacy policy commitments has identified a need to improve technology in the sector – prompting further discussion on what needs to be done now and the possibilities that lie ahead.

Trending…

Back in February NHS England reported that just under a billion prescription items were dispensed electronically in the 2021-22 financial year, resulting in an array of benefits for pharmacy professionals, patients and the environment. But, while incredible progress has been made, the government have stated the target to eliminate paper prescribing by 2024 has been pushed back to 2025 – as the recovery from Covid-19 continues. In other tech-innovation news, digital tools are being utilised to detect undiagnosed hypertension, with Community Pharmacy Surrey and Sussex working with NHS Sussex to develop a pathway that will maximise the use of this service. And as the trend of AI intensifies, advanced AI methods are being used to personalise patient care at the bedside.

From dispensing medication to point-of-sale, these are some of the technology-driven products and services you can test, feel and discover at the show:
